Achtung: Power of Two nach Deutschland!

No, we're not relocating to Germany. We've grown too attached to Encinitas, the weather, the beach, the crazy kids skateboarding on the street at all hours of the day (and night).... Besides, if we did, Raul's Taco Shack would go out of business and we would feel really bad about it.

Next week I'm flying out to Hannover to give a talk at the Game Focus Germany 2008 conference titled "Pragmatic Game Development Practices for Small (And Not So Small) Companies". It's about how you should always question how and why you do things the way you do, and never do something because "it was done that way before" or because "that's the right way to do it". Every team and project has different challenges, experience, team composition, and constraints, so everybody benefits of thinking about how to do things in a way that fits their project. I'll be drawing on a lot of examples from our experience at Power of Two Games for the last year since we're such an extreme case with just two people. If you can't make it to that talk, don't worry, I'll post a summary here when I get back.

This is your chance to bump up Germany in the Power of Two world domination map. Were you dying to get one of those hot Power of Two Games t-shirts but didn't want to deal with expensive international shipping? Just send me an email saying how many and what sizes you want, and I'll deliver them in person at the conference. How's that for service?

Also, if anybody wants to get together and hang out and get a bite to each, just drop me an email. I can't possibly leave Germany without trying some bratwurst and sampling some of the local beer. And considering my level of German, I can certainly use all the help I can get ordering them at the local pub :-)

Auf Wiedersehen!
